CLC Soloist Concert - Thursday 29 August
CLC Choral Showcase
On Monday evening the College gathered as a community to celebrate the Year 3-12 Choral Program. With the use of lighting, movement and rehearsed voices, this concert presented contrasting performances which kept the audience attentive throughout. The grand finale of the evening was the “CLC Combined Choir” which featured well over 100 students (Year 3-12) and the sound in the space of the Chapel was absolutely magical.
Thank you to our conductors and accompanists for preparing these performances, Hayley, Neil, Kym and Elizabeth.
A special thanks to the parents and the College leadership who have supported, encouraged and guided the students enabling them to access these performance opportunities. We are very much looking forward to combining campuses more often in the future.
Junior Robocup State Competition
This weekend two Concordia Lutheran College teams competed in the State Junior Robocup Competition – On Stage Novice Category. Both teams worked extremely hard and presented sensational performances with one team ‘Star Wars’ making it into the top 7 out of 35 teams to compete in the finals. Unfortunately, both teams did not make a placement, however team ‘Wrecking Ball’ were awarded a special commendation for their perseverance. Judges were extremely impressed with Concordia students and their displays with much encouragement to come back to compete again. A massive thanks to Mrs Pukallus and Mr Bishop for running the robotics club from the start of year in preparation for this event. We look forward to what next year brings in robotics at Concordia!

Student Absences - Notifying the College
Advising the College
Please advise the College via Parent Lounge if a student is going to be absent for one or more days. This should be done prior to 8.30am on the day of the absence. If your student is absent, but you have not notified the College via Parent Lounge, you will receive an SMS notification during the morning. In this case, you need to acknowledge the absence via Parent Lounge as soon as possible.
Cancelling Bus Transport
If Inter-Campus Bus travel has been booked for your child and you wish for your child to not catch the bus for any reason, you must cancel the travel in the RollCall App. An updated Bus List is printed from RollCall every afternoon to ensure that the correct students catch the bus. If you have not updated Roll Call with an intended absence, it is likely that we will place your child on the bus as per the current RollCall travel bookings.
Cancelling Tuckshop
Please remember that if your child is away on a Tuckshop day, you will need to contact your Campus Reception by 9.00am to request a cancellation of the Tuckshop order and receive a refund.
Using and Updating Parent Lounge
Updating Student Medical Details
As a priority, please check your Parent Lounge and ensure that all records are accurate and up to date. Please add any food intolerances under Medical Conditions, selecting one of the many options in the drop-down box relating to ‘Allergic’ or ‘Diet’. If the food intolerance you need to enter isn’t listed, please select ‘Diet – Other’ and include the specifics in the ‘Details’ section.
Using and Updating Parent Lounge
We are always investigating ways to utilise Parent Lounge for effective communication between parents and the College. We have uploaded some short tutorial videos that have been created by TASS (Parent Lounge developer) to assist parents with becoming familiar with Parent Lounge. These videos can be found under School Links > Tutorial Videos – Parents.
The following tutorial videos are currently available:
- Booking Parent Teacher Interviews
- Parent Directory
- Paying for Tours and Excursions
- Updating Address Information
- Updating Student Medical Details
Updating Media Consent, Intercampus Travel & ICT Policy
It is important that the College maintains accurate records of parents’ consent regarding media, intercampus travel and ICT (information communication technology). Existing families are reminded that consent from previous years carries over each year until graduation. If you would like to update your records, please complete the updated form.

JC Oktoberfest Raffle Hampers
The Stephen Street Campus Parent Connect is excitedly preparing for the upcoming Oktoberfest event scheduled for Saturday 19 October, from 4pm to 8pm. This event aims to not only raise funds for the college but to also provide an opportunity for the college community to come together again.
The SSC Parent Connect group have asked the Junior Campus Parent Connect groups to assist with a special aspect of Oktoberfest. We are organising a raffle, with each Year Level putting together a hamper with a particular theme. As part of this initiative, we warmly invite each JC student to consider donating a small item for their Year Level hamper that will be raffled on the day. We wish to emphasise that this act of generosity is entirely optional, and we truly appreciate any level of support you are able to provide. If you do decide to donate, feel free to provide single items, or band together with some parent friends to provide larger items if you wish.
Please see below for hamper themes and possible ideas:
- Prep – Art and Craft Hamper – art supplies, colouring books, pencils, texters, pipe cleaners, paints
- Year 1 – Baking Enthusiasts – baking ingredients, mixes, cookie cutters, sprinkles, recipe book, tins
- Year 2 – Pet Lovers – treats, toys, grooming products

Boarding News
Hello to all our Boarding Families
Week 7 has been very busy with Year 12 Mock Exams and after-school sports with Volleyball, Netball, and Rugby Union winding up for the season. It has been a very social and enjoyable term, and the students get to mix with other students from different schools here in Toowoomba.
A few students dressed up in character for Book Week and Year 8 headed off to Camp.
I was fortunate enough to attend the QATIF prizegiving on Tuesday at USQ with Mrs. Kerri Turner to support our Boarder Captain Khan in receiving his Graduation certificate.
Weekend activities have been restricted to the dorm over the past couple of weeks as we have had so many students out on leave and various illnesses. With the support of our Tutors, we have provided a homelike atmosphere with weekly shopping trips and visits to McDonalds. Some students have enjoyed soap carving and cake baking with our tutors. Student morale and interaction has been very positive. Regular drop-ins from family members have also lifted the students’ spirits.
We are also making good use of the school pool and basketball gym.
Until next time, take care and stay safe.
Hope you enjoy the photo gallery.
